Marcello’s on the Drive
March 31, 2011
So our latest hot spot for eating out is Marcello’s on Commercial Drive. The food is absolutely divine: pizzas and pastas, you just can’t go wrong. The atmosphere is friendly and casual and I find great comfort in watching my picky kid down huge fork-fulls of spaghetti. The foccacia bread is also a favourite of hers.

Nice work! If I could get Cora to eat pasta (or anything) like that I’d take her there every night! Looks like a load of laundry is in order after eating there, though.
Thanks for sharing, we are always on the look out for kid friendly and fun restaurants.
I tried orzo with plain canned tomato sauce first. Also, orzo with tomato soup…do you think Cora might go for one of those options?
To this day Simone only eats pizza crust…not actually the pizza itself!
Its funny… I wouldn’t say Cora is a picky eater… she just never eats a lot of anything you put in front of her. She also goes through phases with foods. This week its macaroni and cheese. So I switched to whole wheat in hopes that it adds a sliver of nutritional value to her meals. The hardest thing to get her to eat is meats (chicken, ground beef, pork) and I even tricked her with salmon the other day b/c she ate it from my plate. She LOVES salty things (like her Mama) so seaweed is now a favourite, along with veggie sticks (those chip like straws you can get at Costco). I worry about her sodium intake, but at the same time if she’s eating I really don’t care what it is as long as it constitutes calories. We’ve used a number of your recipes on her and they seem to do pretty well… if she’s in the mood, that is. I also noticed she’ll eat more in different settings (i.e. sitting on the kitchen counter or at the gym with friends). Boy, these little ones keep us guessing, eh??
Any other ideas you can pass along would be great! Thanks so much for your help!!
Funny, I’m not sure I ever ate there, and I lived off Commercial Drive for years! There’s so much good stuff down there you could try though! Glad to hear she’s eating pasta…Peanut is a good eater, but enjoys his sweets way too much (like mother like son…) I’m afraid I’m going to create a diabetic by 5!
Too funny Amber!! I’m sure he’s very healthy, you’re a great mum.
Yes, the Drive has changed a lot. Plan for a lunch visit next time you are back in Vancouver. Miss you!
