Welcome to My Picky Kid
I started this blog in January, 2010, after a long battle with meal preparation for my darling daughter, Simone. Simone wasn’t always a picky eater. Up until about 13 months, she ate everything I put in front of her, including pasta in tuna sauce, curried lentils, and chickpea au gratin.
Then something changed. Perhaps she grew into her taste buds, I honestly don’t know, but she started to eat less and become insufferably picky about what she ate. I kept diaries and journals to ensure that over a week or two she was getting the proper nutrition she needed. I tried every menu suggested to me by other moms, or ones I came across in parenting magazines.
Eventually I decided to just do what I can and be at peace with it. I also decided it was time to blog.
And so I gave birth for the second time in my life, to My Picky Kid, where I post recipes and suggestions, welcome comments & feedback, and once in a while celebrate and rejoice in the small victories that occur once in a while. But certainly not every day.
I look forward to hearing some of your stories and learning about your cooking secrets for feeding youngsters with, eh-hem, strong “opinions” shall we say, about food.
